Pretty obvious to me that this has probably been in the works for many months. I imagine that Trotz and Poile have been collaborating extensively for quite some time.

It all makes sense - Trotz not entertaining taking any coaching job anywhere this season, his purchase of a house here last year, the silence from all corners, DP's age and probable desire to step back. (He is 73 after all - not unexpected to want to spend time doing something else.)

He'll have his work cut out for him but I think that Trotz has the right temperament for the job. I also feel that he has the respect of players, GM's, coaches and others in the league. He'll do his best to surround himself with talented people. Hopefully his hands won't be tied in that respect because he'll need the insight and good advice that a talented group can provide.

It should begin with finding talented scouts that know how to properly evaluate forwards.

A defensive prospect and five draft picks from TB for Jeannot.

Five picks, not four.

"Manager David Poile announced today that the team has acquired Tampa Bay's first-round selection in 2025, its second-round selection in 2024, its third, fourth and fifth round selections in the 2023 NHL Draft, and defenseman Cal Foote in exchange for forward Tanner Jeannot."

I had a lot of respect for Barry Trotz as a coach who did a lot with a little. I'm hoping he does well as a GM, and what better place for him than Nashville to take a run at it.
All the best to him.

This is interesting. It was time for Poile to go, and we've all known for a while now that it just wasn't happening unless Poile decided to retire, and here were are. I love Barry, but I'm not going to delude myself into thinking he's going to save the franchise just yet, but I am optimistic. More so than I have been in a long time. Hopefully, Trotz will want to bring in his own coach too... We can hope.

The Jeannot trade, just wow... I know it's Tampa, and most of those picks will probably be bottom five or six, but who cares. If someone is willing to offer you the moon, in this case comparative to Tanner, you take it. Jeannot is an interesting due who somehow manages to be overvalued and undervalued at the same time. Obviously Tampa thinks he fits in with what they're trying to do there.

Definitely interesting and somewhat optimistic times in Nashville. The first time in awhile. Last night was fun to watch the young guys set up in AZ too. More to come...!!Should be a fun week in Nashville and league wide!

I’d be be trying to sell Ekholm hard. Veteran d-men are always at a premium at the deadline.

Anybody who was paying attention during the last off season could have reasonably deduced that this was going to happen. Had you been watching the scroll on NHL Network you would have seen the news that Trotz had a 3% share in the ownership of the team. With that in mind, and the fact that he was building a new house there , the tea leaves were there for anyone to see.
Good Luck Barry...You are a good man and a Predator through and through...although when you screw up, the fans already have their chant ready for you "It's All Your Fault, It's All Your Fault"..
